THE EMBARK WAY

This is about you,

It’s important that you feel safe and comfortable, because only then will you feel able to surrender to your innermost thoughts, feelings and expressions.

Our work will take place in a quiet and spacious therapy room, where you will be comfortably seated and ready to talk and explore all dimensions of you. We’ll start slowly, taking small steps and working at your pace, so you can begin to trust what feels safe, held and manageable.

You can choose to meet in person in Tunbridge Wells or Groombridge or online via Zoom.

By shining a light onto your past, you will better understand the present and feel able to

walk more confidently into your future.

Over time, we may introduce some breathing or meditation techniques or even suggest we stand up and move around, allowing your body to speak through its own personal language, beyond the mind.

You will be gently and respectfully guided, from a fully person-centred approach, that welcomes all aspects of you.

I will show you how to recalibrate the delicate balance of your nervous system, including how to listen to your three main intelligent centres: head, heart and gut.

This is your voyage and you are at the centre of it.

Embark Counselling & Coaching is here to support you, regardless of your situation. A positive, beneficial client-therapist relationship is of paramount importance and if our approach is not the right one for you, I will suggest an alternative path.

I also recognise that complex or chronic mental health conditions, such as bi-polar or schizophrenia, are better handled through the expertise of a medically trained psychiatrist.

Embark takes a holistic approach, celebrating your uniqueness and exploring your journey to the present through mind and body.  On the way you might realise that you are perfect as you are and find self-acceptance and understanding.

Our work might equally be approached through the coaching lens, to help you envision a new future and set you on a new path.

Only by understanding yourself will you feel empowered to make conscious choices

I work with integrity and creativity to explore hidden depths, helping to recalibrate you for a more meaningful, connected and fulfilling life.

As we progress, you will learn that all your experiences, thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations hold value and purpose. You will uncover and embrace them all as you learn to understand their unique significance.

It is this process of self-discovery, personal growth and transformation that is key to unlocking the secret to a more enriched life.

You are a living, breathing ‘human becoming’, embarking on a unique journey. May it be a good one.

FAQs

How many sessions will I need?

Sessions are one hour [60 minutes] and are typically held weekly, at a set day and time. It is necessary for sessions to start and end promptly at the arranged time.

The first session is an opportunity to agree on some important practicalities as we explore your focus for therapy.

We will also agree on how many sessions you would like (typically around 12) or we may get started and see how the work develops.  We will regularly review progress - the changes or benefits noticed - and the next steps.

Are you a registered counsellor and coach?

Yes, I am registered through the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.) My membership number is 400493. See BACP Listing.

How do I choose counselling or coaching?

I am fully trained in both counselling and coaching so can adopt a specialist approach to both. We are likely to begin by working through a counselling lens, looking at your past and present patterns and behaviour. We might then agree to shift into a more coaching focus to begin to explore your goals and aims for the future.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes! If it’s easier for you to meet online, that can be arranged via Zoom.

For online sessions, please ensure you have a good internet connection and that you are somewhere private and comfortable, where you can feel relaxed and know you can’t be overheard.

What about my medical history?

You will be asked to complete an information form before your first session which will include some simple boundaries and safety measures as well as questions about your medical history.

Counsellors and psychotherapists are not medically trained and so cannot, and should not, offer any medical advice. Should your form reveal anything that might raise questions or concerns, I will recommend a conversation with your GP before starting therapy.

What is the cost?

Embark sessions are £68 per hour [60 minutes].

You can choose to pay for one session or in blocks of 6.  Details about how to pay will be shared during your first session. Payment must be made at least 12 hours in advance of your session, via our online booking system.

It’s often daunting to make that first booking which is why I offer a FREE informal 15-minute telephone call before you make your decision. Book your free chat with me here via the button below.
